We have an illuminated Country Coach grab handle beside the entrance door which lights with the porch light
The chrome fittings at the top and bottom have blistered and become ugly
Has anybody replaced this handle - does it dismantle in order to get the top and bottom mountings rechromed - how do you get to the wiring inside the coach to dismantle rmeove the handle

Advice please from any one that might have done it

Many thanks

I replaced my lighted "grab-handle" 'cause it broke after 10 years... You can buy only the plastic handle (about $20.00) or can buy it complete with new chrome fittings and new gaskets for less than $50.00.
In my particular case, I bought the one with new chrome fittings and gaskets due to the fact that the local chrome-plating company wanted a fortune to re-chrome the old fittings...
You won't need to get to the wiring inside the coach to dismantle the handle as it is illuminated by a small bulb in the lower fitting... There is no physical wiring connection to the handle itself...
Remove all the screws... the handle will be "stuck" to the coach with silicon sealer... use a sharp, thin-bladed knife to slice thru the silicon sealing compound and remove the old handle... When you put on the new one, use plenty of silicon sealer between the gaskets and the fiberglas exterior surface of the coach and in the screw holes before you replace the screws...

It's a piece of cake... Go for it!

Ian, I replaced mine. I got the replacement from Kevin Waites. Easy job.

A belated thank you to all who replied

Have added this job to the never ending list !!
In this week to have the radiator removed / resoldered whilst it is still only weeping - hopefully early attention will prevent a costly future breakdown in Europe this winter

Many thanks
