Good day to all!
My wife and I are considering spending January through March at Colonia Del Rey RV park in Corpus Christi, Texas. Has anyone stayed there, or around that area that could give me their opinion? I've looked on the internet for reviews of that RV park, and as usual I find mixed reviews from "hated it" to "loved it". Any recommendations on other RV parks in or around Corpus Christi that I should consider? I appreciate your thoughts!

Check out the parks in Port Aransas Texas near by Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico . A small town but nicer parks and good bay and off shore fishing. Please do not confuse this town to Aransas Pass Texas ,

Steve,
I have stayed many times at Pioneer RV park which is in Port Aransas---on the barrier island (Mustang Island) across the bay from Corpus. The park is not fancy (no trees) but has all the amenities (pools, club house etc.) I like this park because Port Aransas is low key and not very crowded during the fall & winter (summer is pretty busy). The park is very popular among snow-birds. The Park also has direct access to the beach which my wife & I enjoy. Also on the island you might try Gulf Waters which is private & more picturesque (and a little more expensive). This park has more landscaping and several ponds and also direct access to the beach. If you like to fish, Port A is a great place to be.
I hope this helps,
Fred Compton

My wife and I are thinking about spending Jan and maybe Feb in Texas, probably Port Aransas area. We are kind of nervous about it because we have never been to the area and have never stayed this long any where. We would really appreciate your opinions on the idea and any advice or recommendations, do's or don'ts, other/better places, you could share. We live in Greenville, SC and the distance is about 1200 miles to get there and have 2 small dogs.
Thanks in advance

Carol grew up in that area and said if you like water, sun and beech, you should have a great time.

Be careful not to confuse Aransas Pass with Port Aransas, you do not want to stay in Aransas Pass. Many people on the Texas gulf coast refer to Aransas Pass as Aransas Trash with good reason. Port Aranasa is on the water and Aransas Pass is not.

Bob & Deborah,
I spent several years in Corpus Christi while in the Navy and use to fish in the "Port A" area. Nice area and great way to check out Padre Island. Lot's of beaches, restaurants and things to do.

We will gladly second Bob and Deborah's recommendation of Gulf Waters. It was conveniently located and easily accessed from the west via the bridge. It was essentially on the beach with good roads and just far enough from Corpus Christi if you want to visit there.
Great accommodations and parking available adjoining small ponds or the outer perimeter immediately adjacent to the shore.

My wife and I will spend three months in Alamo, TX near McAllen this winter. This will be our third winter there. We enjoy the many activities, entertainment, and weather in the area. Fresh fruit and vegetables are reasonable (cheap) and the weather is comparable to south FL and southern AZ (where we have spent many winters). We go across the border in Progresso, MX for low priced dental work by dentist (many trained in the US) who have treated US and Canadian winter Texans for many years. You might want to spend a month in both areas to see where you like best.

We have a friend that is considering a 32" Intrigue after having several 36-38' CC units. Does anybody have any experience with this coach? Primarily he is interested in the quality of the ride.
Any input appreciated,

Jurhee,
My name is Louie Courtemanche. I worked at Country Coach for over 16 years in the sales department. Gary Obmerire and myself started a service center and sales center at some of the old buildings at Country Coach.
We just took in a 2002 Allure 32. They are really hard to find since Country Coach did not build a lot of them. They are great coaches which allow you to go anywhere and everywhere. The only complaint I've heard over the years with the 32 models is that with the short wheel base, you have to steer quite a bit. The coach we have the owner had the howard power steering system installed. This steering system eliminates over steering in high winds and everyday driving. You can send your friends to our website at www.premierrvstorage.com
Let me know if I can help with any questions

We own a 32" 2001 Allure #30613. We have over 100,000 miles on the coach and have driven it throughout the United States and Canada including Alaska. This has been and continues to be a wonderful coach. I do not agree with others that there are steering issues. I am meticulous in the maintainence of this coach and over the years have had only routine normal wear and tear issues. We are approached often parks and asked if we are willing to sell or know where to get one. It will fit in any camping situaton. Good luck in your search.

We also have a 2004 Allure 33'. When we test drove it, my DH noticed a "wandering" problem. He took it to Tampa Spring and they set the toe-in and haven't had any more problems. We have 80,000 miles on ours and agree with the other post. We full time in ours with no problem. Perfect floor plan and size as far as we're concerned.

I have a 33' Allure that was a pleasure to drive during the first years of ownership. I replaced the original Toyo tires this year and it became an exceptional pleasure to drive. If your friends are convinced the reduced overall length and square footage of living area meets their needs, drive and ride comfort will not be an issue, but may be different.
