Dear S. Marcello,

Well, a first name would be nice. We have #12153 with the CAT C-13 engine upgrade package. We bought our coach at 10,000 miles in 2008, now have 43,000.
The two issues you have to be aware of is the the PTO and HWH slide hydraulic lines.
Read PTO 101a in the files section. Its VERY likely you need to get the wet kit installed unless the prior owner did it. This is a $500-$700 job, unless to are a good mechanic with all the tools.
You could encounter hydraulic line failure on your slide system. An end comes off, you lose fluid, your slides stop working, you learn how to bring your slides in manually. Depending on where you live, I could suggest the fix. Look behind and above your curb side tag wheel for a retangular metal plate set at and angle to the ground. Under that is the 'synch cylinder' for the hydraulic system. If you have that placement the probability of a failure is high.

These are the two big issues.

We love our coach, have deal with both those problems. and like all motorhomes as complicated as these are, there are the usual miscellaneous problems that coaches have. The coach, likely built in 2006, has 5 year old components so its also time to check the condition of tires, coolant, batteries, and so forth.

Let me know if you have questions.

Lee

I understand there are two other potential issues...though that model year was the tail end of them.
The first was the radiator issue - they were using an aluminum radiator for the engine rather than a copper one and when it gave out it was a very expensive headache.
The other was a CAC - which I think stands for charged air converter. It had some design problems that were rectivied down the line, but if it when it took out really expensive components (i.e. engine) Mark

Good questions.

It's my understanding the radiator issue was resolved during the model year so you would have to research the specific radiator in a coach by checking the brand/model and contacting some of the CC tech experts on this group. I'm told mine is a post-problem model. So far so good (43,000 miles)
The CAC problem is a new one on me. It may depend on whether you have a Cummins or CAT engine. My C-13 CAT performs to Caterpillar specs with no problems thus far.

Friend working for Cat in my other life when the start up tech would start up a diesel for let's say CC part of his or her job was to ensure the Mfr. would install the engine to Cat standards, This is for Warranty. I did many and I rejected start up's if I saw issues Radiators and Charge Air Coolers etc. My name and Job were on the line! Im know CC would work with sales engr. for safe and correct installs. But money plays into this! I enjoy everyones posts on engines! Still have Cat Blood. Thanks for sharing! If I had a Cat in our 99 Allure Im could be more spfc. Remember on you larger engine users have your engines Hoses, Lines and Exhaust Manifolds and all piping checked! Please we dont want any fires! Remember you have a Engine thats produces over 300 upwards to 500 kw of power, Lots of heat in a small box! Safe Travels out there! Ken 99 Allure 30356
