Have you ever had a broken rear shock absorber on your Country Coach? When we picked up our new Intrigue in Junction City last year, it was delivered to us with 2 broken rear shock absorbers on the drive axle (the tag axle shock absorbers were OK). Now we find out that the same 2 drive axle shock absorbers are broken AGAIN.
This occurred while very slowly exiting a camp site that was on uneven ground with the coach in a fully raised position (HWH Raise button pressed) to gain needed engine clearance. The shocks were literally pulled apart and the shaft snapped at the bottom threaded end. The Koni shock absorbers are used by CC as suspension limiters and act as stops when the suspension reaches full extension. There are no steel straps to act as suspension limiters on the Dynamax chassis since the shock absorbers perform this function by design.
We have been told that the shock absorbers on our coach are of the correct length and correct part number for the application. CC is now considering adding a steel strap to our chassis to relieve the pressure from the shocks so that we don't break any more shock absorbers.
Have you ever had a broken rear shock absorber? If so, what was the cause and what was the solution to fix the problem?
