I am considering trying to replace the entire long cable which goes from camera to monitor with a new cable which came with my new camera and monitor. Does anyone know if one could just attach the new cable to the old cable and pull the cables through. Were the cables just laid loose in a cable tray or are they tied down along the route from front to back?
Appreciate some input from anyone who has info about how these were installed.
Thanks

Ray,
Just did this with my 07 Inspire. On my coach the camera wiring went through the roof. No way to do anything with it. But I was able to get the new cable through the underbelly, between the frame rails. But it was no easy task. The existing wiring, hoses, etc under there were tie wrapped every 3 to 4 feet to supports between the frame rails. Also each end of this area was sealed front and back with styrofoam and mastic. Had to take some covers off inside the slide-through bays also. Took me two days and a lot of work but I did get it. I also placed the new camera in the same place as the old one.
I have some pictures at: http://www.moenracing.com/backup_camera.html (http://www.moenracing.com/backup_camera.html)

I am considering the same thing. If you discover that it is possible to use the old cable to pull a new one through, I would like to know about it too.
Thanks

I am informed, by several people in private messages, that it is not possible so guess now I am back to square one where I will probably just splice into the existing cable.

A friend and I were able to run a new backup camera cable through the cable run under the floor of his 1999 Intrigue. We ran the cable down into the engine compartment to access the rear of the cable run and then punched a hole through the foam insulation to get into the the cable tray. Then we used PVC pipe to provide a cable path to a storage bin about half way up the coach. We used i/2 inch PVC pipe from the front of the coach to reach back to the bin where the pipe from the rear terminated. With the pipes in place we were able to "snake" the new cable from the rear to the front. We drilled a hole in the floor to get the cable up into the area behind the dash.
This was not an easy task, but I don't think you would be able to pull a new cable through the overhead path of the old one.

Thanks, Don. Sounds like you are a tenacious person, that was quite a task I'm sure. I am not sure that I can do that but I will certainly consider it.
