As long as we are discussing tires again, just wondered how many out there are experiencing cupping of the outside of both fronts with the Goodyear G70's? Mine is starting to get pretty pronounced at 22,000 miles. Still no steering wheel shimmy, but can it be far away?
Paul, at Les Schwab in J.C. told me it is a characteristic of the independent front suspension and although the cupping is worse on the G70's, don't be surprised to see it on any brand/model.

Roger,
At 23,000 miles my front G670's outer tread was almost gone. Had aligned twice but no help. I switched to Michelin 3500 miles ago - no wear yet, but too early to tell.

After 5 years use, my Goodyear tires are doing fine, no cupping here. Nice ride too.

We had Continentals on our 2000 Allure, at 26000 miles they were wearing fine and had lots of tread left but needed to be replaced because of age and weather checking. We replaced them with 275/80R-22.5 Goodyear G670's. Before we had even 20,000 miles we discovered a river wear pattern on both front tires. The outsides were fine, the second rib in had lots of wear in a wavy pattern. We took it to Henderson 's in Grants Pass for alignment and they determined that the alignment was OK. They said we had two defective tires.
My local Les Schwab dealer in Salem was willing to do a replacement but said that any warranty decision would be made later and I might be stuck with the full replacement cost. With this in mind I visited Kaiser Brake and Alignment in Eugene , another good lineup shop. They informed me that almost every CC with IFS had this problem with the Goodyear's but that Michelins would be much better. $1500 for two new fronts! Not!
My solution was to rotate the two front tires to the rear where they should be fine. Two rears were moved to the front, which should last another 20,000 miles. By then the tires will probably be outdated, if not I will rotate the other rears to the front. This was a much more reasonable choice for me and seems to be working just fine.

I had uneven wear on my Goodyear steer tires. Replaced with Michelin and so far so good after about 12,000 miles.

Had G670's on the front that cupped really bad. I wanted to put them on the rear but Schwabb said thy would keep on rivering. Looking at the rears, they are starting to river. Can't wait to get rid of Goodyears all together.
