I have a Friend who wants to tow his standard transmission Mini Cooper, 4 wheels down.
Portland Mini Dealer says No way, should not be done.
He has seen a Mini being towed 4 wheels down at Crown Villa in Bend.
Has anybody else done it Or know of somebody who Has???? Thanks

From REMCO site. 2002-2011 Mini

Application Notes

No formal testing...Remco has never heard of a problem towing the five or six speed manual. Considered towable. Includes Clubman
So, I'd say they are OK to tow. My wife has an Auto Mini, and she would love to take it with us on trips. I'm kind of glad it is an Auto, as I get in the car OK - but sometimes climbing out can be a chore:)! (Kidding, she really likes her car, it is her daily commuter.)

Best of luck to your friend,
Smitty

I agree with Smitty. I cannot think of any manual transmission vehicle that is not 4-down tow-able. Can anybody else?

Bottom line, if the owners manual says you can than do it. If not then contact the manufacturer because unless you are willing to assume any repairs it could void your warranty. I don't think a dealer will accept the line that a bunch of guys online said I could...................................

Am in Mitchell, SD at Cabela's and just west of it is a WalMart. Yesterday, while out Geocaching, we saw a Mini rag top being towed 4 down. If they are there this morning, will stop and try to make contack.
