You may be able to get it to retract by tapping on the motor. I have not had to do that but I have read other posts where folks were able to get it to retract while tapping on the motor while the door is being closed.

One way is to crawl under the steps and disconnect the linkage with a wrench. Then, manually push the steps in and bungie it closed so they won't slide out when you are traveling.

On my 2000 Magna the step switch in the door is ground. Sometimes the switch will losen up and lose ground and then the step will not work or the step will go in and out.
Check the switch for a good connection. I attached a extra wire at the switch. switch to ground and then the step works much better.

On my rig, I can pass a magnet by the door frame mounted switch and the steps will retract or extend and remain good for about six months.

Thanks to those who responded to my post. It appears that the motor is bad. I took the advise to crawl under and take the push rod off. Then a coupld of bungies and I am good to go.
Thanks for the ressponses.

Kwickee won't sell you a new motor... They will only sell you a "kit" with a new controller, motor, etc for well over $200.00... I got a replacement motor at the local used auto parts yard...
I Removed the motor and took it with me... The used parts guy identified it as a right-rear window motor from a '94 Lincoln Town Car... Sold me one for $25.00...

Just replaced my motor and gear box for around $100.00. Got it from Crestview RV in Georgetown. Didn't have to buy the controller. Would have been nice to replace the motor only but didn't know where the motor came from.

I beleive your entry step is different than mine but my step failed a couple of years ago. I took the motor off the rig and found the manufacturer and part number on the motor. I searched on the internet for that company and found they had an order department. They shipped me a new motor including the gearbox for about $25. It was easy to install.
Unfortuantly I can not find the contact I used but found Kwikee would not sell motors just as someone mentioned.

This link has additional resources for the motor, a company called AM Equipment, they have a web site with pictures of their motors. Or, if you call them they will help you to identify the correct motor.
