Our GE Advantium oven sometimes works, but mostly not! I can turn off breaker for 30 - 60 minutes, close the door firmly, turn the breaker on and sometimes the display comes on asking for the time, then works fine. Next time, nothing but a few led elements in the display come on bright. I figure this is an intermittent connection somewhere from all the potholes and other poor road surfaces we have traveled. Has anyone had the same experience and if so, have any suggestions where to start looking for the bag connection?

George...
I don't know anything about an Advantium oven, but you have classic symptoms of poor connection to the digital display board...
Unplug the connector and clean the contacts on the display board with the rubber eraser on the end of a pencil... Then plug/un-plug the connector several times to "brighten" the contacts inside the plug...
Could also be loss of ground at the mother-board or display board or both... Put a "star" washer under all of the ground screws on both boards and tighten securely...

For "electronically challenged" folks having display problems: Before working on the appliance, unplug it from the AC line... DO NOT USE contact cleaner on the boards! Touch something metal to "drain" the static electricity from your body BEFORE you touch the boards...

I'm not an electrical engineer, but you have asked 2 questions about electrical items that I think are mounted in a slide. I would look at the wiring feeding the slide, not the individual items.

Hello all
Both the Advantium and the Seaward cooktop are not in a slide (this coach is a three slide version). Just got a call from Seaward saying the "touch" cooktops have a problem inherent to them and they will have an engineer call me and see if they can provide a fix. I'll let you know what they say.
The GE advantium was looked at by a certified GE tech who said that he would just have to order boards and change them out to see what was wrong, I would have to pay for the boards and the boards are not returnable. Could end up being several hundreds of dollars! My approach will be to take out what I can while it is installed in the coach and check connections, solder board connections and clean cable plugs, hopping that it will come back to life. If anyone has had this problem, your approach would be welcome.
Thanks for your comments.

I'd try 2 things the next time it happens. Run an extension cord to the Advantium off of a "known good outlet" and see if it works and check the outlet that it's presently connected. Check it with a voltmeter, make sure the voltage is correct and you have a good neutral and ground.

Our GE Advantium stopped working while under warranty. LazyDays in Tampa FL took it out and sent it in for repair. It was a burned out "thermistor" or something like that. Known GE Advantium problem. They replaced it years ago and it's worked fine since. I don't cook at very high temperatures (oven part) anymore.
