Hi Everyone,

We are heading to Lazy Days in Tucson, AZ. We are going to stop in Bakersfield on the way down and thought that I might make Tucson from there in one day but getting concerned it will be too much.
Does anyone know a nice place to stay halfway between Bakersfield and Tucson? We plan on taking 99 to 58 to 395 to I-15 to I-10.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matthew and Teresa

There is free rv parking behind the morongo casino just beyond Bannning on 10. Quiet spot and good food.

Or there is another casino farther down the road http://www.spotlight29.com/about-us/contact-us.php, (http://www.spotlight29.com/about-us/contact-us.php,) on the right with a big parking lot between the freeway and the casino building. It is before you get to the TA on the right or Pilot on the left. Exit Dillon road.

Hi Matthew and Teresa

We stayed in Buckeye AZ at Leaf Verde. Very modest price. Able to leave the tow hooked up. Close to freeway, but far enough away to not hear freeway noise.
Nice people. Helped my wife unhook the tow when she had to bring the motor home in to the park to stay while I had my slight detour for triple bypass.

I recommend them.

The shortest , and flattest way from Bakersfield, to Tucson, is through Indio ( on 111 ) to El Centro to I8. After you get to Edwards Airforce base on 58 , there are hardly any hills , all the way to Tucson. That makes Yuma , a nice halfway stop, maybe a bit more . It is a nice drive. The only town, you have to go through is Brawley, CA, and it's not long or onerous. There are a lot of campgrounds and I believe , a casino, in Yuma. Maybe someone from that area , can make a suggestion Just another suggestion

Del Pueblo in Yuma is away from the freeway, free wifi, pool, good water, and quiet!

Ron

Yes going thru Yuma is a doable route. Instead of takingHwy 111 from Indio to Brawley, take Hwy SR 86 along the west side of the Salton Sea to Brawley, to Hwy 111 to I8.
Hwy 86 is four lane verses Hwy 111 2 lane. Rd you have to drive thru Brawley both ways. Along Hwy 86 near Salton City is a Casino with Dry Camping Just west of Yuma In Cal. is a casino. There is a number of RV resorts in Yuma. Check listings.
Hope this helps.
