The passenger windshield is popping out a bit on the upper right corner. Had a glass guy come out in Flagstaff and tried to pop it back in with a little progress. We are now in Prescott, AZ and it has popped out some more and I have some calls into some glass shops in this area for Monday. Anyone have this issue before? Did the whole windshield have to be remove to get it fixed properly? Thanks for any suggestions.

a message from rv forum: any good glass shop should be able to fix it This was on a Monaco.
"Guardian Glass sent their mobile folks to do a temporary repair on my right and left side windshield when the corners popped out last week. You could see where the rubber gasket had moved because there was a white space between the gasket and the painted area. It is my understanding that the gasket is glued to the front cap windshield opening and then the windshield floats in the gasket if that makes any sense. It appears the glued area has come loose. Tomorrow I have an appointment to get both sides reset. I assume they will re-glue the gasket. I've always had a small leak during heavy rains that was easy to wipe up on the dash. I hope resetting the windshields solves that problem as well"

Larry,
I had a similar problem with my magna. Turned out that the lip of the cap that the gasket attaches to was too far out at that corner, causing the windshield to pop out. RV Glass Solutions came by and identified the problem but proposed a very expensive solution. Call Kent Budish at Artistic Elegance in Tucson. He knows how to redo the fiberglass lip at reasonable cost and does great paint. He can be reached at 520-237-7985 in Tucson.

Larry,
You might want to have someone carefully check the fiberglass frame that holds the windshield to make sure is square and straight. Here's why.
I had a similar problem with my coach -- 2001 Affinity, 42' B&B # 5972. The lower left side of the driver's windshield popped out on the way home from the factory. Got it pushed back in by a glass shop. One year later, it happened again, again it was popped back in by a local RV dealer -- CC paid both times. 2 years later, while just starting a trip out to western Canada, (out of warranty) it happened AGAIN. A friend recommended an old coach-converter/RV repair place in the NW suburbs of Chicago.
Took it in and the "Sr" owner, Said, "I can reinstall it again, but, it will come out again!" He showed me what the others had not seen........ it was in the fiberglass, vertical left side of the window frame.....it was bowed out just a little. The fiberglass edge could be pushed back into a straight line, but over time, the fiberglass continue to push its' way back out to a bowed position. He indicated that the problem was caused during the front cap molding process, where there was probably a temperature problem when the mold cured. He fixed it by putting a series of cuts along the left side, then molding in a small metal rod to keep that side straight. He repainted that area to perfectly match our colors and now, eight years later, there has been no movement of the windshield.
Before he started work, he called CC and they authorized payment, it didn't cost me a dime even though the coach was out of warranty.
Good luck, Den

Thanks to all for responding. I hope to have it looked at today in Prescott AZ by Bennet Auto Glass, or "Mike" recommended by RV shop.

It was fixed in Prescott by "Mike" who came out and worked three hours. Not near MH right now so I can't look at receipt to remember the name of his business. He seperated the window at top and both sides to clean out old sealant, then popped it back in and reasealed it. He was professional, and did a good job. Bennet sounded like they really didn't want to bother with it. After 2.5K miles it's still holding. Mike did tell me he fixed another Country Coach Allure a week earlier with the same problem. Passenger right/top corner popping out.

Where are you located? I just went through the same problem, (03 Magna) and after months and tons of money I got it fixed (so far). I have a couple of names for you but it depends on where you are or how far you can go to get it fixed right without wasting money on people who say they can fix it. Sometimes it's more then a misshaped windshield cowling. If you want send me your number and I'll call you.

Marty,
I am in southern NM. Las Cruces actually.
Doesn't much matter how far I have to go for a fix, as long as it is a fix, though closer is always better. Names and phone numbers would be great.

Let me make a phone call tomorrow morning. There is a very good guy in Arizona that used to work on the production line at Country Coach and he did trouble shooting for them pertaining to windshields, he now has his own shop. He consulted on my coach repair. I need to get some details, phone numbers, addresses for you.

Bob,
There is an excellent window guy, Mark at Coach Glass in Phoenix. If you call the office in Eugene they will set you up with the repair facility in Phoenix. We just had 2 side windows built from scratch and he did an awesome job. You can park in the back overnight if you need. They are busy so an appointment is needed. They also stock windshields for our coaches their.

Hope that helps.

The guys name is Mark Beaty, his number is 541-335-1550. I thought he was in Arizona but 541 is an Oregon area code. He is a very knowledgeable guy about these problems.

Bob,
I had a very similar problem with my Affinity (# 5972) about 8 years ago. After several "pop-outs" over 20 months, I found a repair shop in Chicago to fix it. I believe that CC had a problem with their front cap molds during the period that our coaches were built.
The "old guy" at the coach shop where mine was fixed showed me the problem. The left-vertical side of the driver's windshield was not straight. That side of the window frame was bowed out just a little. He said that an installer could push it back, re-install the glass and over time the frame would work its' way back into its' manufactured shape. That's exactly what had happened.
They made a bunch of horizontal cuts to the left side of the frame. Then clamped in a small straight steel bar and secured it with fiberglass. They the refilled the cuts, sanded and repainted the area. I have not had any problems with this repair in 8 years. So I guess that they fixed it.
Hopefully this info will help you to be a better informed customer when you go to a repair shop. Unfortunately I don't know what it cost to repair the frame. Even though the coach was a year out of warranty, CC paid the entire bill.
Good luck,

Mark is in Phoenix. He is with RV Glass Solutions. He came down to Tucson, charging for time and distance. He looked at mine with my body guy kent budish. Mark identified the cap problem and proposed major work on the cap. Kent pointed out a way to cut the lip only and move it back saving a few thousand dollars. Mark agreed. It worked. All you need is Kent and any good glass guy to R&R windshield in Tucson.
