Howdy,
A couple of days ago my diesel burner light went out indicating a system failure of sorts. Yes it's a Hydro-Hot system which uses the Webasto model DBW-2010 turbine and burner unit. Following the diagnostic procedure in Vehicle Systems' shop manual, I traced it to a bad motor. This seemed a bit odd given the motor is only about 5 years old and a new one costs a nominal $400/ea. Anyway I removed the burner unit and replaced the motor with a new one. Out of curiosity I cut open the old motor to inspect it. Here's a link to more information about the repair:

Perhaps this will help someone and/or shed some light on another prematurely failed component.
We are in the depths of winter (of course) and luckily a few warm days came along at the correct time. Sitting on a plastic bucket in the glow of a propane radiant heater kept me warm whilst I effected repairs. The new motor fixed that problem so the diesel burner is now operational. The Honeywell anti-scald valve is funky but I'll wait until Spring has sprung before diving into that replacement. In the absence of AC power, the battery operated Webasto burner would keep the plumbing bay warm and the interior of the bus above freezing. I'm glad to have it firing once again. Over and out until the next repair...............

He is a wealth of info on Aqua/HydroHots and can give you great prices on new & re-built parts. I've ordered several replacement parts and received instructions on how best to install/modify. His forum is an outstanding resource.

Bill - Thanks for the link. I'm familiar with that resource. My discomfort level is less with the price and more about mean time before failure (MTBF) of what are expensive parts that should last longer. Anyway, I'm up and running now which is the end result. If I get stumped on anything else I'll attempt a dialog with Roger. It seems many motors have been used in that burner. The challenge is, as always, to discover which ones will go the distance.
