Looking for some inspiration here folks. We've got a 2000 Magna with the Cat C-10 and recently lost the serpentine belt. When it departed the scene it took the dipstick handle with it. Any suggestions as to how to retrieve the remaining stick from the tube? Thanx.

Mike, go to the base of the tube and check to see if it is screwed in place or threaded on.

If that is the oil fill tube, then you have a large diameter to work with. Can you see what is left of the stick using a strong light? Are you sure anything is in there? Is it possible for the compete unit to have falling out? Might try a very strong, flexible pencil magnet with tape on the side to keep it from sticking to the side of the tube and see if you can get the stick out. Suspect the tube is bolted to the block or oil pan, but getting to it might not be easy, then you have the support brackets to deal with.

This might be helpful:

Good luck fishing.
