Hi, last summer our compartments baggage door latch snapped off on our 2005 Inspire.
An easy fix to put back the rod to the back of the lock is to use push nut washer cap 3/16 inch steel/zinc plated found at Home Depot, the push nut looks like a top hat.
1.Replace the broken baggage door latch
2. Put the rod back into the plastic swivel on the back of the lock
3. Open the door half way, have someone hold from the top of the door the lock in place so it doesn't move,
4. From the bottem slide the push nut between the back of the lock and the rod and gently taps the rod with a hammer and watch it move into the push nut and wala.
5. Total time to replace latch app. 10 min.
6. When replacing the inside plate be sure not to tighten the screws too much or the lock will not work correctly.

Thank you Joe, I'm on my way to Home Depot anyway and maybe no more sore fingers.
