We had the infamous door lock that wouldn't unlock and had to crawl in through the BR window. I had to disassemble part of the door lock from inside and work it loose. I see the spring is missing, so it must have broken off and fell down inside the door somewhere. That spring came from Ace Hardware 3 years ago. Should have left the original one on there. Thought I saved it, but haven't found it yet. Removed the door jam so the door latch jaws can't lock back on to it and just use the dead-bolt to lock the door until we get it fixed. Anyone know the manufacturer of the lock mechanism for the entry door? TIA

I believe it is Trimark.

Larry, day before yesterday, we were taking about that spring. Did our conversation jinx it?
After you crawled in the window, were you able to open it with your emergency pull wire?

If you find replacement, I will buy a couple with you!

I was not aware of this problem, but I have a Trimark latch on my 2005 Allure so I need to understand this in case I face it in the future.
Is the problem the opening mechanism failing whether locked or unlocked, or only when you key lock the handle. I also have a remote keyfob for locking the door. Does this have any bearing on the issue?

Interesting reading. Our door has locked us out twice. It locks on its own. Fortunatly I keep a hidden key outside so not a big problem. Is this a common occurence? I was thinking just a fluke, but now I am wondering.

Over the years, I've read about this problem from several coach owners with Trimark latches. If you lock the door with FOB or key, and the spring breaks, it won't unlock - period. You will have to egress/ingress the coach through a window until it is repaired. A while ago I installed an emergency lanyard that I could use from inside the coach to simulate the spring action. It worked three years ago during testing, but I found the lanyard broken when I tried to use it last night. So much for reliability... I had to break a plastic latch on the screen door to allow room to pry the door-latch plate (w/2screws) out far enough to activate the spring lever and unlock the door. In 2009, I posted pictures of the lanyard installation here (http://photos/album/1827501333/pic/1181629552/view?picmode=&mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&count=20&dir=asc) that shows the spring too. I talked to Trimark today and they are sending me a couple of springs.

Yes Gary, I think we jinxed it! I have your spring coming, but you might not like the price...
