We are currently in Apache Junction, AZ, and plan to leave April 1st for Page, AZ to tour the slot canyons and Horseshoe Bend as well as some other sites in that area, so 5 days is what I have planned at the moment. Then drive to St. George, UT for a couple of days and then north to Cedar City, UT, where we plan to go to the local parks, such as Zion and the E. Staircase.
Any suggestions about our route during that time, as well as places to stay or places to stop and see are welcome. Our plans are to conduct a lot of photography, so with that in mind, I look for your recommendations.
Thanks,
Jim Hill

While in the are of Zion, make sure you visit Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks. The road from Bryce to Capitol Reefs will take you on the back side of the Escalante Staircase. You are also very close to Arches and Canyonlands, which are both well worth the trip.

Jim,
When you are in Zion you should check into hiking the narrows if you are athletic and the weather permits. You will hike up the river, in the river and will see areas of photography that are spectacular. You can rent all the gear in town and they can tell you about it. We hiked it one Easter break a few years ago and it was one of those things we still talk about. Look it up on the Internet and you will see how fabulous it is. we checked that one off our bucket list and actually would like to do it again some day. You should also hike up to Angel's Flight as well in the park. hopefully you aren't afraid of heights but it is a spectacular view of the park. There is also the Pink Coral Sand Dunes close by which are made of pink sand - very pretty. There is also Brian's head which is skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer - a nice day trip. We stayed in Virgin @ Zion River RV Resort which is at the south end of the park and is a nice little park on the river. It served as a great home base for us in the area. There's a lot of great mountain biking around there as well. Bryce is spectacular as well as Lake Powell since it has water in it again. It is a lovely area with tons to see and do. You could easily spend a month there and still not do it all. Have fun! Safe Travels,
Kathy
