Does anyone on here clean their fresh water system at any time, especially after storing the coach for the winter. My last MH had an outside water opening where I could put bleach into the system, let it sit and then drain. If you do, what special attachment do I need to get bleach into the system? Thanks

I clean my system several times a year; I use an unscented bleach (1 cup) and pour it into the water hose to get the hose as well as the in-line filter and fill the holding tank; then run through the lines until I smell bleach; let stand in lines for about 30-60 min and flush/drain the system and holding tank.

My 2005 Inspire has an "INLET TO PUMP" fitting that you attach the male end of a garden hose to and it will pump a beach mixture from a bucket using the interior pump switch used when not hooked up to water. I need to have someone inside to turn the pump off and on. I cut a 3' piece off the end of an old hose I had so I didn't have to carry another hose just for that.

Dave, I have some background in this area. Here is what I suggest you consider doing.
- Arrive home with around 1/4th tank of fresh water.
- A day or two after getting home, use any handy way to add 2-3 oz of plain unscented laundry bleach to you fresh tank (a cup is way too much). Dilute it some to get it in and rinse after with more plain water.
- Give the bleach a few days to defuse around the fresh water.
- Run all the faucets, as suggested by others, until you get the slight smell of bleach. Also flush the toilet to control mold.
- Repeat the the previous step every 3-4 weeks.
- When you are ready to travel, drain the tank, add 1/3 tank of fresh water, run the faucets until the odor is gone, dump the tank again.
- Fill with fresh water and hit the road.

I agree with Lee but I fill the tank and add more bleach. This was the tank gets sanitized too, not just the water.

Jock,
On my 2005 Inspire I quickly tired of having to go inside the coach to access the pump switch so I installed a toggle switch in the outside pump cabinet. I leave the inside switch on all the time and turn the pump off from the outside switch when filling the tank.
