We are tentatively planning an RV trip with children and grandchildren to S California this summer. Our daughter's family of six usually travel with us to one destination each year with four staying at a hotel and four of us together in the CC.
We are only beginning the plan but understand the g'kids want to spend some time at Universal Studios, apparently more than Disneyland. Also spending some time around the Pacific.
Also, any advice regarding specific RV facilities in the area and nearby hotels or motels that are fairly proximate to each other will be appreciated.

Gerry --- I have spent two winters at Newport Dunes RV Resort in Newport Beach, CA. They have lots to do for families, but they are unbelievably expensive...... their location is great, however, being right off Jamboree and right near Pacific Coast Highway - lots of good restaurants, biking trails, nature bogs, the harbor, concerts in the summer, etc. Need to make reservations right away for summer time as they are usually very very busy. There is another park in Anaheim - think its called Orange something - take a look at RV parks near Anaheim, CA..... dont know much about it - havent heard either bad or good about it....there is also an RV Park in Huntington Beach - directly across the street from the beach. The park is very stark looking, not very pretty, but you just walk out your door, cross PCH and you are on the beach.
A little further away from things is Canyon RV Park - it is right off the 91 and the 241 tollroad.
It is a very spacious park - lots of trees and open areas and is very shaded and nice ---- alot cheaper than any of the places in So Cal....sorry, but I cant recall the city this one is located in - maybe Riverside? Not sure....
In Corona, CA., is an RV Park right off the 91 - actually, there are two right there, but one is a nudist park -- (the nudist RV park is called Glen Eden "Sun" Club), but theres one right down the street from this one that is very nice, probably pretty pricey as there are spas and restaurants, all of that. anyway - hope that helps you a little...
if you want any further ideas, please just email me - happy to help. jan

Gerry,
I can not disagree with the places that Jan recommended in her post, except
that I have not stayed at the RV park in Corona.
I can not think or recommend any RV parks near Universal City. My reason for this is that in the past, the property in SoCal was just to expensive to build an RV parks in LA. There are several RV parks in SoCal that you can stay in but you will have
some travel time to get where you want to go, if nothing else because of our traffic problems. Then finding an affordable hotel/motel for the reminder of the family is something that you will just have to Google. The Canyon RV Park is a good central location to visit any and all activities in SoCal. An hour from Universal City, 1/2 hour from Disneyland, 1 hour from the beach and an hour from Hollywood. My best recommendation would be to Google places where you might like to stay, and ask for honest opinions from us who live in SoCal and I think you will get a good idea where the best place is to stay and visit for the whole family.

I'm sending this out again as I got it back in my "Spam" folder saying there was some type of "Image" in it, but there was none.
So, I'm sorry if everyone gets this twice.
