for what it's worth, 4 yrs ago on our "96 Intrigue had 6 yr. old Toyos on rear duals. planned to replace in Oregon that Summer but in May and June suffered blowouts on inner duals and replaced with Goodyear G-670's. Have been very happy with them. replaced in Palm Desert, Ca. Heat may have influenced the Toyos but that was the last Toyos for me. Jim Veen, '96 Intrigue, # 10299, 137,000 miles.

Jim:
6 year old tires are suspect in my opinion. As you indicated, heat may have influenced the failure. Also, low tire pressure may have influenced the failure. Even if the inner tires were at a proper inflation pressure at the time, 6 yr old tires may have been run under inflated for many thousand miles and cause for failure. IMHO, the Toyos' are not to blame. I believe this could have happened to any tire manufacture. I understand that tires are a sensitive subject and I mean no disrespect.
