Hi all,

We are planning our return to N.H. possibly via the Natchez Trace Parkway. We are currently in Gautier MS (pro- Go-Shay if you are wondering). It is 236 mile to Natchez or about 4 hours on mostly 2 lane roads so our first night would likely not be too far beyond Natchez. I understand that the speed limit on the Parkway is 50 mph. We plan on going all the way to Nashville and picking up I-40 east.
Anyone with some suggestion on campground along the route or nearby (not much over 10 miles off the Parkway).

Thanks

Don Seager

There is an RV park we like across the river from Natchez MS in Vidalia LA. River View RV Park. http://riverviewrvpark.com/ (http://riverviewrvpark.com/)
Nice, paved walk along the Mississippi River and sometimes you get to see tug boats, barges and a river boat go by. Not a real fancy park, but they do have pull thrus and good utilities. They are Passport America park if you are a member.

Don,

We've stayed at the River View RV park too. Not bad if you want to spend a little time in Natchez.
We prefer staying at the (free) NPS RV camps along the Trace at mm 55 (Rocky Springs) and mm 193 (Jeff Busby). [mm distances are measured from Natchez.] No hookups, but the price is right. Spaces fill up early, so plan to stop early in the day. Vicksburg NP is an easy day trip from Rocky Springs.
We've also stayed at a nice Corp of Engineer park (Piney Grove) not too far off the Trace and not far from Shilo NP (another easy day trip).
The Natchez Trace is a pleasant drive if you take your time. We've done it several times. Pick up Natchez Trace info at the visitor center when you pass through Natchez - they list many nearby RV parks if you prefer commercial facilities.

I've read with interest the Natchez info. Can anyone comment on driving the trail in a 40'?
