We're at a crossroads between a 2007 Magna Rembrandt and an Affinity Stagg's Leap - identical floorplans from what I can tell.

I would really love any comments from current owners
"There are 5 things standard on the Affinity that are extra on the Magna"....but (LOL) NO ONE seems to be able to remember what they are! Help!

Windows

Affinity ~ are those windows really any different (other than style)? I've heard stories of issues and difficulties with them. If yours open, do they open enough to ventilate? Fogging or leakage problems? Magna ~ The fogging issue seems to be a given...or is it?

Engines (Cummins ISX 600 vs Cat C-15) We'll be climbing a lot of mountain ranges (Rockies, etc) and maay be towing a heavy trailer ... leaning towards the Cummins for lower operating temp and (supposidly) better mileage (okay...at that level it's like spitting in the ocean). But would really love insight into love (or "wish I had") thoughts about your engine choice.

Galley Cook Top

Affinity ~ Aren't electric cook tops really tough on batteries/inverters? Do you have issues with temperature control? Magna ~ They seemed to have cut down the propane capacity. If you were cooking on them daily, would you have enough fuel for 2 weeks?

Headlights

Affinity ~ I believe yours come with Zenon lights. Are they effective in night driving or just okay Magna ~ I've heard comments that those headlights are way too dim. Any issues?
Galley Storage ~ Is there enough storage to camp in some remote place with two kinds and be able to pack enough foodstuffs (dry)? We're avoiding the Galileo for this reason, but still not sure.

Beds in Front Salon

With a 6'2" son and a 5' 9" daughter, can the front sofa bed and jack knife bed be comfortable enough to really sleep on? Does an air mattress make a big difference?
All comments and insights would be greatly appreciated ~ especially if you were looking at one but bought the other...what were the original key decisions, and in hind sight, do you think they're still valid?

Thanks in advance!
Mark

Mark,

You can go to www.damonrapozo.com then click on Model History and note the differences between the two units you're comparing.

Mark Just a couple of points. In 09 the Affinity was all electric as standard. The electric cooktop is 240 volt and requires the generator or shore power to run. It also had 2 inverters as standard. It also had the front roof a/c run off one of inverters, so this is a good feature. The alternator is 320 Amps versus 270 with 1 inverter. You get 6 batteries , in stead of 4 with 2/1 inverters. Most Affinity's were custom ordered and have owner selection of exterior paint design , with 1 extra paint color. The windows are nice but are a bigger problem to repair, as they are not easily removed. The driver's side window is powered and full space for opening on the Affinity. There's one more but can't remember . Hope this helps. Oh yes the sofa in my Rembrandt is 100 inches long so length not an issue and i believe the same in both.
