Sorry if this post is a duplicate but it's been 1/2 hour since I posted this the last time and it still has not appeared in the forum.
When I got up this morning the coach was cooler than it should have been. I checked the HH diesel switch and the light was off. I turned it off and back on and the burner fired up but there was a lot of smoke. The burner worked all morning and no smoke.
Late in the morning I noticed the light was off again. I went outside and checked the control panel and all the appropriate lights were green. I toggled the switch, the light came back on, the burner fired up, and the white smoke appeared. The burner shut off after a short run, I checked all the lights and all showed good. I turned off the diesel as it is warm enough now to run the heat pump.
The unit was serviced by Chris Snyder in December, 2011 but we had a guest staying in the coach during Jan - Mar, 2012 and they never turned the diesel off. Could it be that I just need to get it serviced again? if so, does anyone know a competent HH technician in the Seattle area? I'd try to fix it myself but I am still working full-time and have other issues o deal with like a leak around my satellite dish.
Thanks,
Bob

First, I had Chris Snyder do the annual Hydro-Hot service in December. We had guests staying in the coach from Jan 1 to the end of March and they never shut off the diesel burner but the electric was on.
Today I woke up and the coach was cool (it's 40 degrees here in Seattle) and the light on the diesel switch was off. Since I had not had my first cup of coffee, I just turned the switch off and back on and the burner fired up. However there was a lot of white smoke. The burner worked fine all morning with no smoke. A few minutes ago I noticed the burner motor was in its cool-down stage but the light was off again. I went outside and looked at the electronics panel and all appropriate lights were green. I turned the switch off and back on again and got more white smoke.
Ideas?

Dirty nozzle, low fuel pressure (fuel pump, air?), bad igniter, bad compressor...? If it's not starting at all, I'd look at the last three above. I have the Hurricane heater. Check this link for the experts on Aqua Hot:

Check your fuel lines, your getting air into the system. I had to have both fuel lines replaced to the Hydro hot.

Bob,
here is a person who has a web site regarding Hydro-Hot and Aqua-hot systems.
You can read the forums to see if anyone has a similar type of problem, or U can join and and get on the forum to ask the same problem.

Bob: I work on mine so I don't know a technician, but Roger Berke's forum is a great resource. It could be something very simple like a flow switch or you might even check for low fluid; if the fluid was low, you would get the light on the panel however. Sorry I couldn't be more help,

Follow-up to my problem. After acting up that one day the problem has not returned. I scheduled a check by the local tech and we watched the HH run perfectly for an hour and decided not to mess with it. It's been running a lot since then with the temps near 50 all day and no hicccups. Of course, maybe Murphy figured that with a tech only 100 yards away (they stay in the same park as us) it wouldn't cause enough trouble to fail again :-)
