Driving from Mich, looks like there are many possible routes to Eugene. Could take 80 thru Nebraska (snore), then 84 from Boise to Portland and down 5. Could take 90 or 94 to Billings and then 90 to Seattle and down. Or, is there a decent route from Boise to Eugene via secondary roads?
Can anyone offer any opinions as to scenery vs road conditions? Possibly one route out and another back? We can't be on the road much more than 3 weeks at a time, so have to keep that in mind, also.

Bill,
I recently drove from Boise to JC. I took 20 through Bend and Sisters, then 126 to Springfield. Some people said not to take that road, but I thought it was a nice drive. Slow in places, but very scenic. The roads were all in excellent condition. Also, I went north on I-5 through Portland and Seattle. Typical city traffic, but no problems. I did manage to travel during non-peak hours.
Finally left JC on Wednesday morning going south on I-5.

Ree, thanks for the help
How much time did you allow for the drive from Boise to Eugene?

I really don't remember. Left a campground north of Mountain Home, Idaho, drove to Bend and stayed at Wal-Mart--at one point I counted 18 other rigs there. The next day drove on to JC and got there around noon.

I saw a note about ging through Sisters. That is a great stop. We have been there a couple of times. Make a reservation ahead. The RV Park is connected to some motel (such as a Comfort Inn), but I can't remember the name.
