Hi All:

My 02 Allure has a polished metal strip on the rear cap that is lifting. There are actually two pieces and then the Country Coach emblem in the middle between the two pieces.

It appears that the metal strip is attached by a double sided tape of somekind.
The tape is still attached to the strip but has lifted off the coach.
Any suggestions for re-attaching the part that has lifted? What type of glue?? Any other ideas? I would rather not rivet the strip down onto the coach if possible.

Thanks for your input.

Hi Bruce,

I had the same problem on front and back of my Coach. I was able to get some ATV down in behind the strip and put pressure on it over- night and that solved the problem. I gentley wedged a piece of wood with carpet on the end between the metal strip and my garage door to hold it tight overnight. You would think that they would find a better way then using sticky tape!

Good luck...
Tom

I have a 2000 Allure and CC sent me a new Dynomax label when the original started peeling off. Your coach is pretty new so why not ask CC for a replacement? Worth a try! Mike 2000 Allure

Mike: I have stainless steel trim panels on my coach.(aftermarket) When the adhesive comes loose, I have used a 3-M product #08001 "Super Weatherstrip Adhesive" The trick is to clean and dry the area as much as possible. Then apply the adhesive into the loose area. Be sure to apply lots of pressure for at least a few hours for setup. In my garage it's easy to brace between the wall the the coach and leave it overnight. Of course, the best method is replacement because it's hard to get a real neat look when glueing anything. If they will send you a new one, take off the old one and prepare the area extra clean. Use alcohol (not Jim Bean) and reapply using a heat gun or hair dryer and the pressure method.
Good Luck
Larry

Bruce: Use "contact cement". Get the coach portion good and clean...apply some to the coach itself and to the back of the "double sticky tape"..and LET DRY ! Keep them slightly seperated until they are dry. And once you let them touch together apply some pressure for about 5 seconds. They aint NEVER coming back apart. AND...when the glue joint betwen the "double sided sticky tape" and the trim strip finally comes unglued ( and it probably will someday) do the exact same thing to that.

I carry a small bottle of contact in my tool "kit" in th coach at all times.

Hi Bruce-I had the same problem last year before we went to Junction City in Nov. We had the front and rear strips on our list of warranty repair items. They(CC)reattached the two strips with double sided tape and pop rivets. Both strips seem to be holding up fine.

We had a strip fall off too - luckily not while driving down the road.
Checked at an auto body repair supply shop and they recommended using a 3M tape product to reattach it. The package says "3M Scotch-Mount", "Part No. 051131", followed by bigger numbers "06384". The packaging describes it as "double-coated acrylic foam tape".

It was easy to apply (no rivets, etc.) and has held up well, so far (about 10 months). I just checked it again and it shows no sign of loosening.

It was only a couple bucks - its probably worth a try before resorting to more extreme measures.

Thanks everybody for your assistance. I asked the service writer at the dealer if they had any solutions for the tape lifting. I was in having trans service etc... He said he would look at it. When I picked it up today he said that the service tech had riveted the metal strip. We both agreed that it did not look very good.

He agreed to order two new strips from CC and re-install at the dealers expense. He also apologized for the tech riveting without reviewing that solution with me.
