Mike,

It just occurred to me what you were asking. The answer is no. In fact I think the evidence shows that there were more fires while on electric rather than propane.

Hello All,

After reading all of the postings on the Norcold fires I have made the decision to replace mine with the Samsung unit. I will have National Indoor RV Storage here in the Dallas area do the installation. Now my question, what is the complete model number for the Samsung unit and where is a good source (i.e. Lowe's, Home Depot) to buy it?

Walt,

You will have to do some homework. The Samsung 197 is what a number of us have installed. There are letters associated with the 197 that have to do with color/stainless, etc. The 197 is counter depth which may be what you need depending on your floorplan. The non-counter depth is 215, I think, but is deeper and may stick out in your hallway. Lowe's is a good source but you may find that they will have to have it shipped in. They are in short supply and some have claimed that they are out of production. Go to the Samsumg web site to get all the pertinent measurements and then take many, many measurements inside your coach. If you want more info email me offline and I will give you my phone number.

Walt,

Bought ours at HH Gregg but they have the same units at Lowes and Home depot. Don't have access to the model number but it is the Samsung side by side counter depth.... If you have the measurements of your cabinet area that the refer will sit in, you can go on line and see the dimensions of the units that are available to fit in your cabinet area.

Hope this helps.

If you can afford to wait about 3 weeks for the July 4th sales you may save a few bucks. Sears and Lowes are two places that sell them.

There are a number of options to purchase Samsung refrigerators. We went with the larger, 23 cf model with water and ice through the door (RFG237AARS). This is also a counter depth. Purchased it through Best Buy and had it installed by Oregon Motorcoach Center in Junction City. The model that most have purchased is the counter depth RF197ACRS. I just checked on the Samsung site and both models are still being manufactured.

Hello All (again)

Yesterday I ordered the Samsung for my Inspire. So now I will be joining the large group of Country Coach owners who sleep better at night with out the fear of their coach burning from a Norcold refer.

FYI to all interested in the refer change out, Now that a standard is happening in what refer to use, I'm working a deal out with my local Samsung dealer (that I'm friends with and buy lots of appliance & electronics from) to come up with a group buy. I'll have more details in the days to come, but I'm interested in finding out how many in the Northwest is interested.... Shipping won't be a good option so local pick up or I can install.

Thanks

The closest we get to dry camping is lunch in a road side rest area.
