I'm looking for a towing system for our 2003 CC Allure. It's set up with a modular plug in and a receiver.
I'm looking for a system that is a fast hookup/disconnect. Price is not an a problem. You know something of value.
We'll be using a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
I know that all systems require some time to hook-up and disconnect, just a quality system. Thanks, John

I am partial to the M&G system. One air line and you are done, If you want a breakaway then you have to have a lanyard between the coach and toad. Both will take about 15 seconds to hook up. We have been using the M&G for over 150,000 miles on a '00 Jeep GC.

I agree. M&G with breakaway. Simple.

I also have the M&G system on my CJ7 and have been very happy. However, I was talking to Hitch Pro and Tow in Eugene #541-434-2403 (who installed my system many years ago) yesterday and commented how happy I was with the system and asked if it was still selling well. I was told that the newer vehicles are not as compatible with the M&G system and they were now installing XXX. I did not catch the name and did not follow up as I was not looking for a new system. I do not know what year is a newer vehicle.

I tow a 99 Chevy Tahoe and use the US Gear Brake and a Blue Ox tow bar. Easy and quick hookup.

I recommend either the US Gear UTB (Unified Tow Brake) or SMI either the Stay & Play, or the Air Force One.
Personally I like the US Gear, but all of these listed are very good units, reliable, quick hook & unhook. Both the UTB and the Stay & Play just use the trailer electrical cord (need to have a 6 wire cord) and the Air Force One uses a air line. The electrical ones can be swapped from car to car as well as coach to coach if you change either in the future. While the air system can also be swapped on the car and the coach as long as the future coach is also air.
We've installed all the different systems over the years, we average about 25 complete tow package installs a year, and for our owners toads we use US Gear & he averages 8,000 miles a year

We've had good luck with our US Gear unit too. Never a problem, break away safety, stealth install. We also ran an alternate power supply via our plug, to feed the CRV's battery, so no need to pull a fuse. I liked the proportional braking, and the manual 'lever control to activate the toad brakes'. We use the lever control when first starting out after hooking up the toad, to be sure the Stirling All Terain arms 'locks' open. (Before learning this trick, it seems like only one side would 'lock' when easing back in reverse after hook up. Usually this was the curb side. So, when easing away from the curb of our home with it's slight downgrade, the unlocked arm side would compress in, and the CRV would wander enough towards the curb to graze the tires along it. Now, by apllying a bit of the manual lever control brake force via the US Gear in coach control, it keeps just enough drag on the toad to help it 'lock' both arms. (I know what I was trying to say, not sure if I said it:)!).
The other feature of the US Gear I like, is the ability to quickly adjust the braking force. Not as much of a factor in todays rig, but with our old F53 98 Bounder Chassis, made me feel a bit safer when setting the force from 5 up to 8 in city stop and go traffic... Just that much more stopping assist.

This is on a 2007, with about 50K miles of trouble free usage.
Many good ones exist, but when we did our research back then - I came up with more of the 'plus' marks for this unit, then the others. Things change, so current research recommended:)!

Best of luck,
Smitty

It was mentioned that there were some issues with the M&G brake system in later model Wranglers.
We recently had one installed in a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. There is an issue with moving an ABS component out of the way, but it can be done well. There are M&G instructions on how to do it that work OK, but one of their Dealers (C.H. Topping--520 W. Esther St., Long Beach, CA - 562-432-0901) did a super job installing ours. "Vinnie" being a brake expert, went beyond M&Gs recommended installation modifications and produced a much better result. Contact Vinnie and he can send you photos. As mentioned by others, it is such a simple hookup when it's time to hookup or unhook ... just a single air line. We opted for both the optional breakaway system which involves a pull cord and the remote indicator in the motorhome dash and that involved using one of the spare wires in our 6-wire tow cable. The results are beautiful.
No I don't work for Vinnie, but I recommend him highly. It's a small family owned shop but their workmanship shows their pride.
