Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:48 am (PDT) Not sure what the subject is here....but the 7-pin tow plug is most likely not spliced into the coach tail light wiring. Some coaches may have a tow board mounted inside the coach. Check your schematics that came with the coach and they will show location if installed. Jim Hughes

These test were done just taking reading on the tow plug (7 prong). The trailer was not hooked up. I assumed the wiring is just spliced from the tail lights. Although i dont get the same voltage reading at the coach lights Kelly & June Campion Luck Dragon

Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:54 am (PDT) Geeze, I can't even seem to get anything right. I forgot to include the link to the Kwikee Series 42 PDF file. Here it is: http://support. powergearus. com/techdocs/ 1422258.pdf Stuart, 2005 Allure, #31217

Kevin, thank you for the reply. Sending you a PM shortly. I also need to correct two mis-statements I made. The part numbers do have the 4 zeros on the end for the controller in a series 42 Kwikee step. 909570000 (old) and 909571000. Sorry. I also said the reason for my steps operating backwards was because of a normally closed instead of a normally open door switch. Not true after I got inside the door to replace it. It is a n/o switch for the steps, with a n/c side to turn on and off the coach floor entry light. Again, sorry. Here is a pdf for the series 42 steps that is the best doc I have seen regarding these steps. Stuart: This is a common problem now when changing out to these new controllers, what you need is a Reversing harness (Which I now have in stock), this plugs in between the motor & controller & reverses the switch. Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:17 am (PDT) I recommend either the US Gear UTB (Unified Tow Brake) or SMI either the Stay & Play, or the Air Force One. Personally I like the US Gear, but all of these listed are very good units, reliable, quick hook & unhook. Both the UTB and the Stay & Play just use the trailer electrical cord (need to have a 6 wire cord) and the Air Force One uses a air line. The electrical ones can be swapped from car to car as well as coach to coach if you change either in the future. While the air system can also be swapped on the car and the coach as long as the future coach is also air. We've installed all the different systems over the years, we average about 25 complete tow package installs a year, and for our owners toads we use US Gear & he averages 8,000 miles a year
