I want to change the coolant filter on my Cummins ISL400. Am I going to take a bath in coolant while changing the filter or is there some sort of built in valve on the engine side of the filter to prevent the engine block from draining coolant while the filter is off. I would expect some coolant like maybe a cup or two but I am hoping not much more than that.

Thank You

I was told I did not have one but I crawled under and looked. There is a coolant filter next to the engine oil filter.

Norm I just changed the coolant filter on my ISL 400. Mine had a shut off on the housing just above the filter.

Norm,

There is a shut off valve right next to the filter. Look closely.
