I'm currently planning on replacement of my shock absorbers with Road Kings, due to following many of the previous posts here. When I called Road Kimg, first they spec'd out the wrong shocks; then said to measure for replacements, but the approx. values they gave me aren't even close. Is there a spec sheet from Duramax or CC which says the correct shock length? I realize these can be influenced by the ride height; therefore should these be verified first, then the measurement made. What is the correct procedure for getting the correct shocks.

Roger, on the Road King website they have a Data Sheet outlining how to measure the shocks currently on your coach to give to Road King. Are you saying these measurements resulted in the incorrect shocks.
I'm curious as I've been considering Road Kings as well.

I followed the spec sheet; however the values were much less that Road King had told me they would be. The length measurement will be I influenced by the ride height as I said as well. The first shocks they spec'd out were not from any of my measurements.

Mike,
I installed the Road Kings a little over a year and 15,000 miles ago. I have absolutely no regrets. They are great. Had serious porpoiseing and front end bottoming with the non-adjustable Koni's. No more bottoming or porpoiseing since.
Road King knew what shocks I needed without measurements. The only way to accurately measure them is to remove one front and one rear and measure off the coach.
If you decide to go with Road King you will not regret it (except being a little lighter in the Wallet).

Mike, please let me know what type shock you decide to go with. Thanks, John CC Allure 2003 #30951

John, will do but it won't be right away my Koni's at 118,000 are still doing pretty well, I see where reports on the Road Kings are very good on the website.

I have to chime in on this subject. I have 124,000 miles on my coach, original Koni shocks. No problem, my ride is fine. If people have front end bottoming or porposing, and the shocks are not clearly bad (leaking), the problem is probably incorrect ride height. But if you throw money at Road Kings, you are going to want to justify the decision, at least in your own mind. I will stick with my Koni's, thank you.

Mike, I'm new to RVing. We have a 2003 Allure. My question is when I go to drive somewhere, the leveling system, will it automatically level the coach when I start driving? Thanks, John/Jackie Allure 03 30951

John,
Welcome to enjoying RV life.
It should self level when you switch on the ignition. A green LED should appear above the "TRAVEL" lettering on the HWH panel as soon as the system is ready. Then, you may go safely.

Mike The HWH leveling system is for leveling the coach when it is parked. When you are in the travel mode 3 independent levellers, one in the front, and 2 at the back level the coach , with respect to the road. If the road is sloped , the coach will be sloped. It is trying to keep you parallel to the road. The 2 systems are independent of one another

John, yes when you put coach in drive the camp leveling done by HWH shuts off and your coach is leveled by Ride Height Valves, there is one in the front located in the middle of the Sway Bar and two in the back these control the air going in and out of your air bags.
It is important that these Ride Height Valves are adjusted to specification. I have those if you need them.

John,
On our 2004 Intrigue, it self levels when you engage drive, not when you start the engine. Since it doesn't level immediately, I usually wait for the air dryer blow off at full PSI before moving. When we bought our coach, the salesman just went from leveled to moving right away, If you are down on the stops (very low) it pretty hard on things.
