Despite having mats on my steps the leading edge of the steps which is painted, (do not understand why the 3m film that is on the face was not continued over the step edge to protect it), gets marked. Has anyone fitted some form of protector to the rolled leading edge which looks OK?
Secondly the black non slip pad that is fixed to the steps, how do you get that back to "jet" black?
Thanks in anticipation!

I taped off the steps and painted the top, including the non slip pad, with black semi-gloss paint. The non-slip comes out "jet black."

Sorry, once the non-skid has discolored, you can't get it back to "Jet Black".
You may purchase replacement non-skid self adhesive material in several widths by the foot at RV supply, home centers or marine supply. Apply heat with a heat gun (carefully so as not to burn it) whlle pulling up the old tape. Clean off glue residue with mild solvent. Sand surface. Mask and paint with high quality matt finish paint. Then apply the new non skid tape.
I remember seeing an ad in the FMCA magazine that makes custom polished stainless steel covers. However, very pricey.
