In the Allures and Intrigues, they have a vinyl wall covering throughout. In some higher end coaches, they have different wall coverings in areas such as the bath. Does anyone know if they are applied over the basic vinyl covering. I tried CC cust serv but they did not know.

Bill,

In June I was at the factory for some work on my coach & took the Magna/Affinity tour. One of the things they showed was the wall building process. On the Allure & Intrigue the wallpaper is applied during the wall building process. On the Magna & Affinity no wallpaper is applied during the wall building process as on these coaches customers can custom pick wallpaper. I don't remember being told when they apply the wallpaper.
If you have additional questions call the CC sales department in JC. They are the group that give the factory tours. You can also get a factory tour dvd from CC that may further clarify your question.

Hope this helps........
Steve

Thanks, Steve

I talked with a CC service tech yesterday, and he explained in detail how to apply wallpaper over the vinyl, and how to replace the corian backsplashes and mirror backsplashes with ceramic tile.
All very "doable"

OK, here's the deal.

Just got back from working on the coach for our departure next Thursday for Oregon. One shower later, with "adult beverage" at hand....

CC rep named John verified what I had suspected: Wallcoverings:

You can paper over the vinyl wall coverings, a paper product would be better than a vinyl product because the adhesive must evaporate to dry, it can not evaporate through the vinyl. If you use vinyl on vinyl, you should use "contact adhesive" this sticks on contact, (not good, as you can not "squiggle" the paper into position).
Ceramic tile:

If you would like to change the corian or mirror backsplash with a tile backsplash, you can pop the tile off, use a sharpened putty knife, sharpen the end and side of the blade. Start at an end mirror, work the blade in, wiggle it down, insert a slightly thicker blade where you first inserted the knife to hold the mirror out, continue working the blade down, until you have popped the mirror from the wall. After removing all the mirror sections, clean up the wall, and apply regular tile adhesive to apply the tile.
If you are removing the corian 2 or 3 inch splash from a wood wall, you should score along the top with a utility knife before removing it, so you do not tear the top layer of the plywood. If it were to delaminate above where you were going to tile, you would have a problem.

He verified that using epoxy type grout will not guarantee that you will never get any cracks in the grout, after all, the unit is in constant motion going down the road.
All this because Lenore thought that the paper and tile added a lot to the feel of the upper end coaches.
(I really have to find her another hobby)
