Dave,
As a terminology clarification, the defective part was, (as mentioned by others in related threads) is a relay type coil/solenoid mounted on a panel in the back passenger side of the engine bay. It's a $26 part.
It can be accessed thru the engine bay door or from underneath.
Also as mentioned by others there is a similar coil/relay/solenoid under the dash, accessed thru the panel on the face of the dash.
Sorry for the confusion regarding the starter activation solenoid mounted on the engine starter that engages the gear into the teeth on the engine flywheel.
Yes, us "vintage" coach owners need to support each other as much as possible.
Good luck in keeping the unit four digit serial number wise from mine running smoothly.

Lee,
All of this forums' posts regarding repairs are interesting to me for possible future reference. But because our coaches are of the same vintage, yours is particularly interesting.
As a point of clarification, when you refer to 'solenoid', are you referring to the starting solenoid on the starter motor or to a starting circuit 'relay' (a relay that would handle the 12volt current draw for the starter motor) in the engine bay? Is it a plug -in relay or hard wired? Where is it located? Thanx for your help. Never know when I may be dealing with the same issue.
