Help,

I had the alternator changed yesterday at a local truck shop and today during their test drive the voltage was acting strange. At idle 14.0V, but at higher RPM the voltage went down to 12v and the low voltage light came on. I have new AGM 8D batteries installed.

Items changed:

New alternator not rebuilt, new belts, new belt tensioner. Installed a Leece-Neville 2824LC, which was the replacement for my old alternator.

Looking for ideas from the group.

Thanks Kevin, I'll be there in the AM to see what we can figure out. I have the test procedures from Leese-Neville.

Check for broken wire or connector at alternator along with regulator check.

Followup on the the alternator problem. The new alternator was bad out of the box. So Kevin was correct. Ordered another one all covered under warranty including the R&R labor.
Will keep you posted on the outcome.

Second new alternator bad. After discussion with the factory field rep it was decided that the second one was bad. They are sending another from the factory, they said that will work. I'm amazed that there was two bad alternators.
