I have a friend that is having an issue with his generator. We are looking for an OEM fan belt number for a three cylinder Isuzu on a 12kw Onan. What is not working is the belt he is getting, using the Onan spec info. Even if someone had the Onan belt number that has worked in their specific instance, would be helpful.

I have a Onan 12kw generator on my coach and replaced the belt in Aug 2010. From what the mechanic told me then, the Onan part number is 511-0210. There are 2 belts in the kit because Onan is not sure which one would fit the generator. The cost is about $100 and I think the 3/8" x 33" belt is correct. The belt that came off was a Mitsubshi #8971604370 which did mean anything to anyone. The mechanic put a Carquest #1320 on because he could not readily get the Onan part. I think NAPA #6732 or 3L320 may work. That is everything I know about the generator belt except it is very labor intensive to change (bad access). Bob's Generator (former Onan mechanic - retired) who operates mobile in the Junction City area during the summer replaced my belt.
Let me know how things turn out. My generator kept shutting down due to high temperature until I got the belt replaced. It runs cool all the time now.

Fred

If the belt is not destroyed you can take it to Napa and they can match it.
I was successful in doing that with my Onan belt.
