I've been off-list for a week, so as I read to catch up, I may find subsequent responses to my post after I have written this. Nonetheless, this is my response to Don Seager's response.
Don, I did in fact find the suggested toggle switch, and it was set to "normal." I moved it to "door only" and there was no change; that is to say, the burglar alarm continued to be non-functional. I note that there is a red push button on the same panel as that on which the toggle switch is mounted. Thinking this might be a reset button, I pushed it, alas to no avail. So while the locks still work with the CrimeStoppers remote, the alarm does not.
