Has anyone installed a macerator in an '05 Magna? If so, what brand macerator did you use and any tips to make the installation go smoothly?

Hi Gary,
I bought the Clean Dump Macerator out of Vancouver, Washington. Their service is great. I have had mine since 2009. I had a part break and they mailed the part to me immediately.
My particular difficulty was that I did not have enough room in the plumbing bay to perminately attach it. I also needed to pump up hill and sometimes 40' so I needed additional hose.

I installed a twist on Thetford sani-con system on my coach because I wanted to be able to pump up hill to access a sewer inlet at my brothers place. I used it for about a year and they are very convenient: however, we began to have problems with the sensors on our holding tanks. After, much discussion it appears that cleaning out your tanks depends on the whoosh effect which is why they tell you to let your tanks get above 3/4 full before you dump.
With a macerator the tanks drain rather slowly and as a result the tank doesn't empty well and sludge builds up in the bottom. The service guy that cleaned our tank with a high pressure hose said that 3/4 of his business is with coaches that have macerator pumps.

I've used a macerate system for over a year now without any problems; the option when dumping to backflush the black tank works well to wash out the sludge. Simply open the grey tank for a few moments after pumping out the black tank (black tank valve open) then continuing pumping out the black tank, after closing the grey valve. You can usually backflush two or three times with a 3/4 full grey tank. The black tank usually pumps almost clean after 2 or 3 back flushes. The backflush is not, however, a substitute for regularly flushing out the tanks with the rinses once a month. I'm very pleased with the Sani-Con system and really enjoy the small discharge without regard for gravity.
