We purchased our coach in Texas, clear title, went to reg. in AZ and DMV wants to do an inspection. Normally AZ does not require an inspection for an RV that was purchased out of State. Have not gotten very far with DMV on the phone. Has anyone else in AZ had this happen to them.
DMV will not say if they require a LEVEL 1 2 or 3 inspection.
(I sure some of you are thinking just drive it over there, well the hubby just had a knee replacement and is driving yet)
Thanks

Not sure about the inspection but you are in for some serious sticker shock when you see the tab bill.

We purchased ours in AZ and then went to register it in CA. DMV wanted an inspection which turned out to be a nightmare that ended with making an appointment with the CHP and a gentlemen spending about 3 minutes looking at the VIN and Engine number and signing off on a form. It was all to prove that I didn't steal it.
Don't know if it is the same in AZ. I would never register again in CA anyway. The registration fee is expensive but the luxury tax was outrageous.

I bought my rig in Wisconsin and had the VIN number 'inspected' by my local police dept. Took the paperwork to the MVD and got title and plates. If you call your local police and explain that the coach cannot be moved, they will come to your location and do the inspection. I also did that on one occasion! They will gripe! But it is their job - they have to do something for their keep besides writing speeding tickets!!

I had to do this a few years back with a Winnibago Journey I bought clear title in Nevada. It was really not that big of a deal. I dont recall the LEVEL #? But do recall driving the RV to the inspection station and waiting in line to get a person to come out and do a visual inspection. After that I was able to pay the sales tax and get it registered.

AZ does charge sales tax if you bought your coach from an out of state dealer. There is no sales tax collected if you bought from a private party!

I decided to go to a 3rd party to register and pay the 25.00 fee, we did not need an inspection and got everything done in about 20 minutes. Go figure
