The door on our 2005 Inspire will not open from the outside and is very hard to open from the inside. I removed the cover and see a part of the mechanism connected to the outside latch is badly warn and slipping past the door catch. I'm about a 100 miles from home.

Any suggestions on a band-aid fix to get me home?

Jim,

I would make sure the coach is level and not twisted. This happened to me a few months ago when I had trouble leveling the coach. Just a thought.

Try deactivating the latch by placing tape over the latch and just use the deadbolt to keep the door closed.

On my 2001 I have a BIN DOOR for the generator compartment that I cannot open. Seems the right hand latch will not operate. Any suggestions anyone, Please. currently in Annapolis MD.

I'm few days late so this may already be answered but my water/sewer door jammed while I was trying to dump yesterday. The left rear wheels were in a "swale" which put the coach off level. I moved it to level ground and it opened. I have had this happen with another hatch when the coach was severly off. level. You may wish to try leveling it from one extreme to another in an attempt to open it. Pounding on the corner that is stuck while releasing the latch may also help.
