Hello I have had Good Sam Road service 5 years and had a chance to use it ( first time for on the road service) on Mt Hood Hwy 26 as my car would not start. I was on the phone at around 9 pm for just a few minutes under an hour. Then I was informed it would be 3 to 5 more hours and it was now dark. Not wanting to spend the night the restaurant owner bailed us out and he drove me 40 minutes each way to my home and of course back.
So to show him my appreciation knowing he loves good wines I gave him a nice selection of nice wines to enjoy from my cellar. I came back to the restaurant to start my Lexus myself at 7 am next morning so they didnt have to lift a finger to help me. Just glad I was not in my RV stuck out there.
Good Sam followed up my response with an offer to give me a free month subscription while we sort this out. I have called them and no response.
I am seriously considering switching as guess there was a AAA guy a mile away from us and they did not have a contract with Good Sam.
Wonder what your feedback on AAA is? For RV and vehicle roadside coverage?

Give Coach Net a try, they have given me very good service in the past.

Hi Gerald,

We use Coach-net and had excellent service when we lost an engine hose on the 210 outside of Los Angeles, CA. They knew what kind of tow truck we needed and paid to have a towed to Colton Truck 40 miles away.

You may want to add them to your considerations.

Gerald,

On most auto insurance polices you will have (unless you opted out) what's called ERS, Emergency Road Service. It pays for most emergency road services, but is usually not a large amount. In Texas for example with State Farm, you can get $120.00 coverage for only $2.40 per year. You don't have to use anyone special, just call the nearest service available and then take or send the receipt to your agent and you get a reimbursement check immediately. No it doesn't cause your insurance to go up. Your dead battery is a good example of this coverage. You can also get it on you coach in most states, but again the reimbursement is limited to a small amount usually $100 or so. The best part is that you can call anyone and don't have to wait for a particular service company. It's so cheap, you should have this in conjuction with your Coach Net, Good Sam, or whoever. .

When I had AAA they always sent too small a truck to deal with my RV. They were always great for my cars.
I now use Coachnet, when I could not start the coach a couple months ago they sent a 10 wheel tow truck.
Coachnet is great for coaches and cars, AAA is great for cars.

Gerald,

Remember the old commercial TRX is for kids.....well Coach Net is for coaches, they know what size wrecker to send and what needs to be done if towing is required. They also have tech's who can walk you through many problems. I have had several other road side services including AAA who does not service SC, do not know where else they do not have coverage...Coach Net is for coaches!!!!! They will cover your car as well.

We have been very happy with Coach-Net. Not only have they handled coach situations well, they sent someone to our house to jumpstart the toad when I was on a business trip and left the lights on before I left. My wife called to tell me the Jeep would not start and I told her to call Coach-Net. They had someone there within 15 minutes to get her going.

Gerald,

Coach net is best for our heavy coaches plus they offer phone advice to help with diagnosis and DIY repair. I have used them for years. Always satisfied with response.
On the other hand, I also continue membership with AAA for other benefits like maps, DMV service and many other conveniences at their offices while traveling. Example: In July I used their trip insurance to cover hotel and meals while our coach was being repaired at Cummins West.

We had AAA and had a breakdown just outside Henderson, NV. Called AAA and learned that we had AAA for our cars but had not paid the premium to cover an RV! The gal we spoke with was very nice and asked if I'd like to add the RV service? I asked, "if I do can I use it now?" Her answer? "YES!"
We gave her CC# for a very small charge and an hour later the very large tow truck showed-up.... towed us to Freightliner. Without the AAA it would have been a $600.00 Tow! Love that AAA!
