Hello All,
I am planning a 4 week road trip vacation starting when my boys aged 12 & 16 finish school in June 2013. I know there is a wealth of knowledge here that can help me in planning this trip. I am looking for places to see and stay and events during that time period. Please bear in mind that this trip is with 2 active boys so artsy, crafty places and events would have no appeal. Some of the places I am planning on visiting are; the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Vegas, MT Rushmore. I have been to all these places except the Grand Canyon over the years and am looking forward to showing these wonderful places to my boys. I know that I do not want to drive my 45' Intrigue down into Yosemite Valley so any suggestions on nearby places to stay would be great for there and other destinations as well.
Also have not decided whether to pull a car (currently not set up for it) or my trailer loaded with golf cart, bikes, kayaks etc and rent a car when needed which is what I have done in the past.
I look forward to your suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Drew

We just finished a cross country loop. We started in FL and went to Wyoming, Montana, Canada, Idaho, Oregon, California and are now in Las Vegas heading back east by Thanksgiving. We saw Yellowstone, Tetons, Glacier National Park, and the Redwood trees. We missed Yosemite. We had already seen the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore.
do you need full hookups or are you willing to dry camp? Where are you starting from? Might be some stops along the route folks can recommend.
For Yellowstone, if you don't need hookups, the Buffalo Bill State Park between Cody WY and Yellowstone is nice. In Cody, go see the Buffalo Bill Museum. I think you will need more than one day in Yellowstone.
For Mount Rushmore, we stayed at the KOA in Hill City. They have lots to do and they have a shuttle to Mount Rushmore. Hoover Dam is a must see when you get to Vegas area.
