Title: Use of DELETE key

The use of the delete key is not always the answer. Many (most?) members use the DAILY DIGEST option. Messages which have drifted off-topic (along with all of their embedded replies to replies to replies to replies... - that were not edited out.) still need to be scrolled over to find the start of the next message in the DIGEST.
Please stay on topic (firearms in RVs was okay, but not wisecracks about chocolate cake, nor moral issues about carrying guns).

Here, Here!!Couldn't agree more with Herb's comments, re: "carrying guns in Motorhomes"/delete key.
I think it would also help if we just collectively ignored statements such as the writers opinion about the right to bear arms or the moral aspects of same. At least that would minimize the amount of play such statements get. Jim Hodges 2007 Inspire 360 #51969

Now I am sending this as an example, hoping that it might help others frame their responses to digest messages.
I chose "reply." In the reply address, I replaced the "no reply-" with a " () the subject of the message to which I was replying and entered it into the subject line of the reply (leaving the "Re:").

In the reply itself, I highlighted all messages prior to the one to which I was responding and deleted them, as well as the messages following the one to which I was responding. That left one message, for which a reply should have been self evident.
I know it is a pain in the ass to do all this work, but it certainly helps eliminate all the endless quotation of messages that happens from some people who receive the digest version. I have no idea how many times I have given up on replies owing to the endless quotations of previous messages extant on the digest. Seems to me that if we want help from everybody, we owe it to everybody to be helpful.

Ken, thank you for your suggestion (located at the BOTTOM of this reply chain), HOWEVER:
I believe your example for using a Daily Digest should state at least the following first important point:

1. The normal use of the the Yahoo forums result in the replies being in reverse chronological order -- the NEWEST AT THE TOP. It gets very confusing when some replies are AFTER the previous post and most are at the beginning of the post (going from newest to oldest).

2. Another option is not to keep any previous replies in the message - use the REPLY TO GROUP link below the message. Then briefly restate what you are replying to as part of your reply -- that eliminates a lot of chaff.

3. Remember the REPLY TO SENDER option for giving personal thanks to an individual for a suggestion that you have not tried yet. Do NOT use REPLY TO GROUP for a thank you unless you can add valuable information useful to the rest of the group about the results of the suggestion.

4. Some suggestions/complaints about a posting are sometimes best send to the Country-Coach-Owners-OWNER@yahoogroups.com (Country-Coach-Owners-OWNER@yahoogroups.com) . One way is "REPLY VIA WEBPOST" option and toggle the owner address into the TO field. The moderator may have already addressed the issue with the party involved.

Thank you.

I just started using a new feature. It's the "Ignore" button. I have them for sale. If interested, let me know.
