This is the small hose that goes to the fill/overflow tank. I think it is to purge air. The connector seems like it will unscrew but not sure of the clearance to above the radiator. Has this happened to anyone here?

Jon, On my coach there are two (2) overflow hoses. As you look at the back of the Coolant Purge Tank the Upper Hose should go to Radiator.
The Lower hose Purges to the ground.
The connection at the Radiator for the Upper Hose should be held on by a Hose Clamp, the clearance is tight you've got to be skinny to get in to it.
I had to replace my Upper hose as it had been rubbing on steel structure of the coach over the last 10 years, I put a Stand Off hose clamp on it so it wouldn't rub anymore.
Don't know if I'm helping you, but tried.

Yes, I had this happen this summer in Oregon. My hose goes from the top of the block to the tank to the top of the radiator in a total of three pieces. Same darn hose used on my Hydro-hot, and Genset. Fortunately I stopped in time, and a local fire fighter found me a replacement to use until I could get back to OMC to replace all three hoses.

Our experience is that the hose is an air release from the radiator to the overflow tank. Our radiator has a 3/8" pipe fitting in the radiator body. It has a 3/8" to 1/4" 90 degree brass hose barb fitting. The first brake in our fitting was between the hose barb and the 90 degree fitting. The 2nd time we experienced a problem the brass hose fitting broke off leaving a piece of the fitting inside the 3/8" pipe fitting. To repair the problem we had to drop the radiator out of the unit to remove the broken piece inside the 3/8" pipe fitting. The area were the fitting is located is almost impossible to get to.
Both brakes happened after we hit a big bump with the rear axels. My suggestion is to plug the 3/8" pipe fitting in the radiator with a 3/8" pipe plug, remove the hose and plug the hole in the overflow tank.
