Hi,
This past August we hit the BIG 5.0 year mark with running the Hydro-Hot. In that time, I've done a bunch of repairs to keep it going. I've documented these and provided my observations about the experience with the product. See

The bottom line is it ain't cheap to keep these things going. Breakdowns never come at a convenient time. The best approach (I think) is to be proactive about maintenance to avoid these. Perhaps my laundry list will help identify the problem areas. Safe travels to one and all.

Scott. I have an 06 intrigue 12047 with the same unit. Approximately how many hours on your unit. Bob

Bob - I have about 4800 hours logged so far. The only part I've been able to get specific MTBF numbers on is the Webasto turbine motor. It's good for between 3-5k hours. Mine crapped out at 4400.

I have a 2003 motorhome with Hydro-hot that I bought new in 2003. Maybe I am just lucky, but I have not had nearly the problems you have had. Granted, I use the coach only for a couple months a year, so maybe this accounts for the difference. I have had relatively few problems and I would not give up my Hyro-Hot for a propane heater - no way.

Marc - I wouldn't give up my Hydro-Hot either. If your usage is 2 months per year than that's 1/6 of my usage load. We also have 4 winter seasons thrown in there too. The gist of my article is to alert people to the possible problems they may face with this heating unit. And I've had problems as documented. If I knew then what I know now, I would have been much more proactive with repairs. Perhaps a few people can get the knowledge I didn't have and save some hassles in the process. Full timers put more demands on vehicle systems because they just use the stuff more. When your Hydro-Hot system hours meter gets up around 5000 you'll likely go through some parts. Until that time comes, enjoy trouble free operation. As for heat, the system isn't powerful enough to function as a primary heat source in really cold weather. For taking the chill off things, it's great. Stay warm.

Thanks for the info. It is comparable to what we've spent on our 2004 Allure. Same problems. We will keep it running because we like it but this will help us foresee anymore problems.
