I have searched the forum all morning for some help with this. We have a 1998 Allure with some funky gauges. Originally I thought I was running to hot but finally found it to be the sending unit and the gauge. The oil pressure gauge, tach, and MPH gauges are in working order for the most part but do not look so hot. Has anyone retrofitted the dash to digital with the mechanical 8.3 (no ECM) Cummins?
I was in hopes of incorporating a tablet PC so I could use navigation and then switch back and forth to engine data. Some of the cheap apps today look promising but no good without a ECM.
Thank you in advance.

In my racecar I did just that.
I have a galaxy tab 10.1 android tablet. I am running the "Torque" app which has tons of info, one of which being live gauges. I bought a Bluetooth OBD port and plugged it into my OBD port on my Car. The table connects to it via Bluetooth and displays the data on the screen. The OBD Bluetooth device is an ELM 327 I believe and can be had on amazon for around 30 bucks.
As long as you have and OBD port you should be able to get at some of the information. Even on my 03 vehicle I cannot see oil pressure via the ECM however there is a factory Oil pressure gauge. Odd but that is how the car is setup.

Looking at the Silverleaf VMSpc24. Kevin Waite has been helping me find the connector on the Country Coach. Silverleaf has a round 6 or 9 pin or a rectangular 12 pin connector. By all accounts I should have one of these connectors not being used under the dash or shifter panel of our 1998 Allure. I have torn apart everything, not saying its not there but I sure cant find it. I have read on another forum on people splicing into the Allison connector for the information needed for the Silverleaf. Any ideas? My wife is ticked I have all the panels off and wires hanging!!
Thanks

Dave what scares me is my engine is mechanical not electronic. Not sure what that means? Called Cummins they changed to electronic in 99. Silverleaf instructions say electronic engine management required. I will call t hem tomorrow.
Thank you!

What that means is you have a mechanical fuel injections system, i.e. no engine computer to tie into. An electronic engine has the computer and electrical fuel injectors.
