Does anyone have a source for the 12V ceiling mounted "hockey puck" shaped light fixtures? (metal housing and trim ring, plastic guts...)

I have spent way too much time looking for replacements. County Coach (new) offered to sell me some for $38 or so each to which I declined. I am in the process of replacing them with LED puck lights from Kaper II an OEM supplier to RV manufactures. They provided many of the lights to Country Coach. I did my bedroom and bath room area which provided a number of spares for the other parts of the coach.

Dan Can you please advise which light( size etc ) you bought from Kaper II and how much you paid. I did notice that the lights I looked at were at 5500 K which is that white/blue color which my wife hates. I think 3500 K is closer to the halogen color. They did not seem to have an LED bulb replacement for the G4 halogens which atre in our coach now. Thanks

Thanks for the posts. I am interested in OEM type hallogen fixtures.
Scott, have you ordered similar from the manufacturer you posted?

Denis - No I haven't. I'm using only that which came with the vehicle. I did go LED, however. Good luck.

The original fixtures rely on plastic tabs to hold the light lens. With the high temperatures from the halogen bulb the plastic becomes brittle and breaks. A losing proposition to try and continue with the OEM style fixture. All the current manufacturers are going with LED.

The
Kaper II light is L09-0039-NW 3" low profile , 15 diode, 64 limens, 3500K.
They are about $18. I also hate the blue white 5500K light. These lights are made for an OEM manufacturer and for some reason have different polarity than my coach. They come with a connector that plugs into the existing harness but I had to cut and reverse the wires. The light fixture is much cleaner than the original but they do look different so I have been changing them out room by room. The 3500 K looks good in the bedroom and baths but I don't know if I will go with the same for the living area.
I did replace a couple of bulbs in the halogen fixtures over the sink to get more light for food preparation. I used Kaper II WP05-0026-NW which is a G-4 replacement bulb with 180 lumens and 3500K. also about $16.
Just for the heck of it I replaced the courtesy light in the stairwell with L16-0000.
I have been very happy with the results and have been able to use the take outs as replacements for the existing halogens.

I have replaced several of mine and have found them at different RV parts stores and at Camping World. Usually they are about $15.00.

I agree about the brittle plastic, a trim ring hit me on the forehead as we were driving down the road....
Dan, Scott: Any LED replacements that are in the "Warm White" color range? And don't you still have the same plastic guts in the fixture (as it holds the lens).
Thanks

Regarding the OEM halogen 10 watt fixtures The lens and trim are installed and removed With a slight rotation. CW to lock CCW to remove Carefully inspect the plastic base The trim ring does not snap on and off otherwise it will fall off at any time Bob 06 intrigue. 12047

Did you find an LED replacement for the soffit (under cabinet reflector) lamps? The Scintiluna "G4 18 LED 180 Lumen" lamps do not show a diameter (that I can see).

Denis,
The Scintiluna LED discs fit fine in my soffit fixtures. These are the horizontal pin sockets, however. The fixtures above my kitchen and computer tables have vertical pins and the LEDs won't fit there. As for the diameter, they are 30 mm or 1.182". Hope this helps you.

There are LEDs in the warm range of 2700K but I have not proceeded very far with my research. I have tried a couple of 2700K bulbs in my existing fixtures and have learned that to get the same amount of light you need to go to the bulbs rated for 15 or 20 watts. The 10 Watt equivalent did not produce good light. I am using the existing fixtures in the kitchen and living area because I am recycling the unbroken fixtures that I took from the bedroom and bath areas. I did put a couple of 3500K G-4 bulbs over the kitchen sink for improved lighting and I replaced the florescent light over the sink with an LED replacement strip.
I am looking for ideas on the living area of the coach because you have two styles of bulbs and I think three kinds of light fixtures and how do you make it all come together stylewise. There are also a lot of fixtures which equals a lot on money.

Thanks for the suggestions. I figured I could try some LED's and see if the light color worked with the rest of our bulbs.
As I was looking at your suggestions I saw these G4 18 LED 180 Lumen 12V AC DC 2 Watt Bulb for Boat, RV, Under Cabinet (Warm... (http://www.amazon.com/Lumen-Watt-Under-Cabinet-White/dp/B006UJTIQ2/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1352825799&sr=8-24&keywords=Scintiluna)
and was thinking of the "over table" area with vertical pins, but I found no dimensions for the bulb. A competing mfg. dimensions theirs at .81"....which seems larger than the area inside the reflector....

Appreciate your input. I found this http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/light/how-lumen-to-watt.htm (http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/light/how-lumen-to-watt.htm) so I will keep on with the research....LED's seem worth trying at least....
