Hi,

Quick update. I finished installing the 2nd cooling unit. About a 12 hour job total. I've also taken photos and will write a detailed article on this second project. One learns by doing so I'll pass along that knowledge for others to ponder. Clearly this isn't a project for everyone. As for me, I'm glad it's done. It's been real!

did you report on what you found and what caused the leak, or are you waiting

until you finish and then report?

Dave - The old cooling unit is in a box on our slab. I'm going to open up the boiler insulation tomorrow (Friday) and take photos. I'll take a stab at explaining the failure if I can see anything definitive. Since I'm not the cooling unit builder I'm not really the "go to" guy on this. That said, this cooling unit is supposed to go back to Pines RV Refrigeration for their inspection. I'm hoping they will share with me what their findings are. Ideally this should all jive with the physical evidence of sodium chromate. Whatever information I have (or get from Pines) will be included in my article either directly or as a follow up post. It takes 7 days to freight that cooling unit back to Indiana. And that's after it's picked up which may take some additional scheduling time. Once it's received back at the factory, I have no idea how long it will take them to convey a verdict. It will take me several days to finish my article. Here's a shot of the boiler just above the heaters: http://muniac.smugmug.com/Maintenance/Another-Frig-Melt-Down-1142012/i-2CknxMn/0/M/IMG_3672-M.jpg (http://muniac.smugmug.com/Maintenance/Another-Frig-Melt-Down-1142012/i-2CknxMn/0/M/IMG_3672-M.jpg) More to come tomorrow.

Howdy Campers!

Per my previous post, I was embroiled in my second cooling unit failure. We went about 8 days without proper refrigeration eating out of a Coleman cooler. Not a big deal as there are much worse things in life. Somehow you manage. Hot off the press is my article chronicling the
repair:

Apologies for any typos as this article isn't due through the editing department until tomorrow. That said, it should give folks an idea of what went on. It's been real!
