Hi all!

I'm on my way to Florida for the winter and stopped over this evening in Dothan, Al. I switched on the hot water heater on the control panel, the red light lit up and then went off (like it should) and I thought I'd have hot water in no time at all. Seems as though the water heater DID heat up for a while and then shut itself down. I opened the outside door to the water heater and after a few minutes it ignited again, but only for a minute or so and then shut down again. After that, nothing - won't ignite at all. I did check the breaker on the panel located in the cabinet above our bed and it was not tripped.
I would appreciate any suggestions. I am passing by a camping world in Tallahassee tomorrow morning, so worse case is that I need to stop there and have it serviced. Hopefully they're open on New Year's Day. Anything I should look for myself?

Happy New Year to all of you!

Steve

Steve- If your water heater is propane- check your stove top and see if it will light. The solinod may be shut down and after a while you get enough propane to light but not stay on.

There is a camping world in Dothan and another large RV center just South of Dothan on Hwy 231

Steve,

Try unplugging and repluging the connectors to the water heater control board several times. That will scrub those contacts if they have a little surface corrosion on them. If that doesn't help, then it's probably a bad control board. They're prone to go bad after 6 or 8 years or so. Easy to replace yourself if you can find an RV supply to get a new one. It's plug and play.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the suggestions and input. I tried unplugging and replugging the connectors to the control board several times as Dave suggested, and so far so good. Plenty of hot water and systems seem to be operating properly now. Much appreciated!
