I just wanted to share an experience with you that I thought was very interesting. We are down in the Outdoor Resorts for a while and needed a little heat. Yes we have a hurricane heater. I thought I would try the heat pump in zone one and the hurricane in zone two. Well I was not aware that the hurricane over rides the heat pump. That's the only heat that runs and it runs in both zones. If I have done something wrong please let me know.

Vic The heat pumps have a low ambient cut off around 35 to 40 degrees, at which point it automatically switches to the diesel heat. Also most thermostats will only let you operate in one mode . Once the cut off takes place, all the units will operate in the same mode. Usually in the coaches I have owned,( with one thermostat and 2 or 3 zones ) the thermostat will not allow you to operate in more than one mode, either all gas heat , all heat pump etc. I suspect that it was cold enough to cause the heat pump cut off and then all the zones were now at the same mode, which was diesel. The heat pumps are too noisy any way. I would guess you don't have floor heat or a heater in the Hurricane , because with floor heat and the element/elements in the Aquahot, I never use the heat pump.
