Here's my two cents worth from a guy that spent the last 20 years in the car business. To be sure, non-slide models are and should be priced well under book value for obvious reasons. However, be sure to look at market values far more than depending on the book values. Look at a book. It says in bold print "GUIDE"
The good ole folks at NADA have spent a long time compiling values over the years, but they pay very little attention to the market value by comparison to depreciation. With technology the way it is today, NADA could publish book values that reflect actual sales prices but they don't. The values you see in the typical NADA book are simply depreciation schedules.
There are several RV sites on the internet plus the ads we see in FMCA, Motorhome, etc, etc. A potential buyer should be able to land on a specific model and get to the bottom line using these sources.
Finally, don't forget one thing: You might fall in love with a certain coach for whatever reason: color, floorplan, drive, and all the textbooks NADA books are for naught. Go for it! That's what makes buying a new coach fun!

I enjoyed your post and especially agree with the last paragraph, above.
Heck, we might've paid "too much" for the non-slideout CC we bought in June, but since it was optioned virtually exactly the way we would've ordered it if we bought it new ... we agreed that it was *worth* paying a reasonable premium. Are we glad we bought it and do we love it? Bet your bippy!
By the way ... we put our 31' Class C up for sale after we brought the Intrigue home and we sold it in three weeks for our asking price.

Hi Everyone,
Update on my search for a used Country Coach:
I've narrow my choice down two CC coaches. The first one is a 2002 36' Allure (Summit model, double slide) fully loaded with all the major options which I can buy for between $150 - $160K. The second is a 2000 40' Affinity (single slide) which I can pick up for between $180 - $190K. Wholesale book (per NADA) is $211K.
Anyone have thoughts on my two options? I like both of them and can't make up my mind which one I like better.

Only you know which one better suits your "needs." Getting the best buy in the world on something that doesn't suit your needs makes no sense at all.
For example, the longer coach *could* be a real pain ... unless you really need the extra room.

We have a 2000 Intrigue, Gourmet on the Road, #11066 that we bought new in January 2000. Feeling it is time for a change, we have been looking around and spent a couple of days at Lazy Days last week. Was quite impressed by the Monaco Signature and even the Dynasty. Many of the poorly designed and executed features of the CC seem to be much better done in these coaches - but therein lies the big unknown. Are these differences only skin deep and is the underlying vehicle significantly poorer than the equivalent CC? Personally, I don't know and only have the usual anecdotal tales of horror to judge by. Does anyone here have direct experience of these high line Monaco coaches and the likely level of factory support? All experiences welcome - good or bad.
A significant cause for the desire to change vendors is the availability of *qualified* service. Closest for CC is 8-1/2 hours from here (BG in Knoxville) whereas Monaco itself is only 1-1/2 hours. That has been the most frustrating aspect of this ownership - the problem is identified, the parts are available but there is no one to work on it!

Tough choice between 36 or 40 for some, but the 40 will ride better and with IFS turning is not a problem. The Affinity fit and materials will be better, and the only plus for the Allure is the double slide. Good luck

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Hello,
I would pick the bigger of the two(2). The Affinity is a good model, I think you would rather have bigger than smaller, I know that i wouldn't like to be without my 42' Affinity. I lived in smaller ones, and i must say that I like the larger storage spaces on my Affinity. IMHO, I would go with the Affinity.

Remember the Affinity is three levels above the Allure. Country Coach spent a lot more time putting the Affinity together than they did the Allure. You get a lot more standard features, and many you can't even get an the Allure. The bigger engine and fuel tank is just a couple obvious. You may want to ask CC for brochures on both, they will send you copies, and you can see all the differences in the two coaches.

Have you heard about the program between CC and Cummins Coach Care? Do a little research on what the current and planned centers are all about. This was presented and discussed at the Class Reunion Rally.

Dick,
Read about it in "Destinations". Quote from magazine--"Coach Care is currently developing over 30 candidates for inclusion in the program. Key words are developing & candidates. Long time coming & still not in place. Didn't even list one location that was up & running. Will be nice if they get it going, but it is not just for Country Coaches. Any coach brand and any CC coach(cummins or Cat) will be able to use the service.
Maybe you got more updated info, if so could you please spread the word on who & where.

Went further back in magazine & found 18 Coach-Care locations that are up & running. They are pretty well spread throughout the country.
This is a very positive step for CC as their dealer network falls short overall in the service area.

Hi, Steve.
Coach Care is not new. There are a dozen or so shops that have been around for a while. Coburg is one... another is Jacksonville, FL. Check the Onan/Cummins web for the full list.... www.funroads.com (http://www.funroads.com/) .
At the rally the senior management from CC and the leaders of the Cummins Coach Care initiative presented the program to those who attended the seminar. They said that Country Coach was the only manufacturer who formally partnered with Cummins on this program. CC will train, and to some degree, equip the Cummins Coach Care techs. In return Cummins will give priority to CC owners who use the service.
I think the target for this year is 50 locations. Cummins admitted that it is early in the development of this program but they were convinced by Bob Lee to open it up to us. It's a good move as far as I'm concerned and it's got to be better than the available service locations that we have now. It's a work in progress and I plan to avail myself of their service and support the effort.

I had a coolant leak while in California and went to the Coach Care facility in Bakersfield. They were very knowledgeable and courteous. They have several 50 amp parking spots and invited me to stay at no charge while waiting for the parts to arrive.

Dick, I agree with you, this could be very good for RVrs. They said that the warranty on work done at one location would be honored by the other locations, also. I am lucky, in that I have one location within 8 miles of my home, and one within 15 miles of where I store the coach in winter (140 miles from home). As it is now, it is at least a 280 mile round trip for dealer service.
