Our 2002 Intrigue has stopped blowing cold air in the AC mode (Normal or Max). The blower blows but there is no cold air. I checked the 30-amp fuse for the dash air in the forward left compartment below the driver and that metal-cased fuse tests good with an ohm-meter. What are some other checks or tests that I make to find the problem before getting to the compressor or the refrigerant?
Unrelated (or is it?) the parking brake light on the far left side of the dash also stopped working. I think that these are two unrelated issues, but I thought that I would mention it.

Steve, you may have lost all you FREON in your A/C Compressor.

Steve the compressor operation is the FIRST thing to check. If the clutch on the compressor is not engaged, you won't get any cooling. It would start the engine with the cooling , off, and then have someone turn the A/C on. The clutch on the compressor should engage and start turning the compressor. If it does start and only runs for a bit, and the the clutch disengages, you are very likely low on refrigerant. If the clutch does not engage at all, you could be completely out of refrigerant or have an electrical problem with clutch being engaged. Sometimes , if completely out of refrigerant, it will still engage the clutch but momentarily. Likely low refrigerant if it was running recently

We have a 2002 Affinity with a C12. This past summer the dash air quit blowing cold. Went back and the compressor not engaged. You can tell as the center part turns around when it is engaged. Turned out hoses for freon or what they use today had a leak. Likely from rubbing against the other hose. Replaced that part of hose, put in more freon and it has worked since.
The way you tell if you have a leak is to pump freon into it. You could see where mine was leaking out.

Do you hear the vacuum pump operating when you first turn on the ignition key that controls the functions of the dash heating and air cond. system. Its located in the compartment under the drivers seat. I have had the pump fail once and the hoses connected to it fail, too.

In addition to the previous good advice, check the condensor fan fuse near the compressor clutch fuse if the compressor does not engage.
If compressor does not engage and or the fuses blow, a quick test could be to disconnect the power wire connection about six inches from the compressor.
Check for 3.0 ohms resistance by placing one volt meter lead on the compressor connector and the other on the bolt hole ears of the compressor. Less than 3 ohms could mean that the compressor clutch may be shot and needs to be replaced.
Been there, done that recently.

This is a safety feature built into the dash air system by County Coach. When freon pressure level drops to a certain point the interrupts dc to the compressor solenoid to protect it from burning up from lack of freon.

Dean, where are these fuses of which you speak ... the condenser fan fuse and the compressor clutch fuse?
Currently in Mexico with limited resources but my first check "under the hood"? revealed that the separate V-belt that drives the AC compressor seems very loose. Any hints on how tight that belt should be?

Look on the outside firewall (dash wall) passenger side you should see the black blower box. Now toward the mid-section of the box or to either side you should see a aluminum box 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/2" with a probe that extends into the blower box it should have two wires hooked to it (normally blue). Another hint normally located close to where the hose's hook up to the blower box. Any other info needed please call us so we can walk you though it.
